There are so many beautiful places to choose from when planning a Caribbean holiday, so you might be wondering: is the British Virgin Islands the right destination for you?

After more than 30 years of first-hand knowledge of the BVI, I’d say it can be — but perhaps not for the reasons you might expect.

The BVI isn’t simply about beautiful beaches, although there are certainly plenty of those. It’s about the combination of islands, the freedom to explore, the wonderful Caribbean atmosphere and the sheer variety of ways you can enjoy your time here.

So, let’s see if it sounds like your kind of place.

You love beautiful beaches

If a Caribbean holiday for you means warm turquoise water, soft sand and finding a beautiful spot to swim, snorkel or simply relax, you’ll be very happy here.

From the hidden but stunning beaches of Virgin Gorda to the quiet stretches of sand around Tortola and Anegada, there is plenty of choice.

And if you are staying on a yacht, you can discover secluded bays and beaches that aren’t accessible by road — which makes the experience even more special.

You like to explore

Perhaps lying on a beach all day isn’t quite your thing.

The BVI is wonderfully easy to explore, with each island offering something different.

You could spend a few days discovering Tortola, take a boat across to Virgin Gorda, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Jost Van Dyke or head to Anegada for something completely different.

There are beaches, restaurants, historic sites, snorkelling and diving spots, nature trails and plenty of little places to discover along the way.

You love being on the water

This is where the BVI really comes into its own.

Sailing between the islands is one of the best ways to experience them. You can charter a yacht, book a day sail or simply arrange boat trips during your holiday.

One day might involve swimming and snorkelling in a quiet bay; the next could be lunch ashore, followed by a sail to another island for sunset.

You don’t have to be an experienced sailor either. There are options for bareboat sailing, crewed yachts and by-the-cabin sailing, depending on the type of holiday you’re looking for.

You’re looking for a romantic escape

The BVI can be wonderfully romantic.

Imagine a beautiful hotel overlooking the sea, a private villa with your own pool, or waking up on a yacht with a different view every morning.

There are plenty of opportunities for long lunches, sunset drinks, secluded beaches and those wonderfully unhurried evenings that make a Caribbean holiday feel truly special.

You’re travelling with family or friends

The BVI can work brilliantly for families and groups too.

You might choose a spacious villa where everyone can spend time together, a hotel with plenty of facilities, or even a yacht where your accommodation travels with you.

The key is finding the right combination of island, accommodation and activities — and that’s where good advice can make all the difference.

You want luxury, but not necessarily formality

Luxury in the BVI doesn’t always mean dressing up and being waited on.

For some people, luxury is a beautiful suite with a spectacular view. For others, it’s having a private villa and your own pool. And for someone else, it might be stepping aboard a crewed yacht and letting someone else take care of everything.

The beauty of the BVI is that you can choose.

And what if you’re not quite sure what you want?

That’s absolutely fine.

In fact, that’s one of the reasons I love what I do.

When you call to enquire about your holiday, you don’t need to know which island you should stay on, whether a hotel or villa would suit you better, or whether you’d enjoy a sailing holiday.

I have over 30 years of experience in arranging holidays to the beautiful BVI, so tell me what you enjoy, who you’re travelling with and what you’d like from your holiday, and I will be delighted to help you work out what might suit you best.

After all, there is no single “perfect BVI holiday”.

There is only the perfect BVI holiday for you.

So, is the BVI right for you?

If you love beautiful scenery, warm Caribbean waters, exploring at your own pace, good food, friendly people and having the freedom to make your holiday as relaxed or adventurous as you wish, I’d say there’s a very good chance it is.

That’s where my first-hand knowledge comes in.

Let me help you discover your own perfect way to experience the British Virgin Islands.
