What could be more romantic than tying the knot with the one you love in this blissful Caribbean island paradise… the beautiful British Virgin Islands.
Your wedding can take place in one of the local churches, at the hotel of your choice, on the beach or even aboard a yacht as the sun sinks below the horizon.
The procedure is simple…apply for the licence on the first working day after you arrive in BVI – it only takes 3 days to process. You can be married by a local reverend or the Registrar. You will need two witnesses – if necessary the staff wherever you are staying will be pleased to oblige. The cost for the licence is $220.00 and the cost for the Registrar to marry you in the British Virgin Islands is $220.00. If the Registrar has to travel by ferry to an island other than Tortola, the cost of the ferry will be added. From Tortola to Virgin Gorda it is $40.00 return and to Anegada $55.00 return. All of these costs are subject to change. If you wish to marry in Church, the regulations and criteria are different so please contact BVI Holidays for further information on this.
You will need to show proof of your identity via your passport, birth certificate and/or driver’s licence and also show proof of marital status (including certified copies of Decree(s) Absolute for divorced spouse or Death Certificate(s) of deceased spouse).
Many of the hotels in the BVI offer reasonably priced wedding packages and range from simply “Just you Two” to BVI weddings catering for dozens of guests. It’s your special day and the choice is yours. Included in the BVI wedding packages is assistance with applying for your licence.
If you would like to engage the services of a wedding planner, Heather Anderson lives in BVI and her company is BVI Wedding Planners and Consultants. She would be delighted to assist in arranging your special day. It can be as simple or elaborate as you want it to be.
Your bouquet will consist of beautiful tropical flowers and Heather offers an extremely wide selection. If you desire something particularly special, she will order it in for you. If you would like a cake – it can be a simple sponge cake, or a popular one is Strawberry Sponge cake with flambéed meringue topping, fresh strawberries and chocolate floral clusters, or something even more elaborate – the choice is yours.
For your wedding in the British Virgin Islands – photographer, champagne, venue, flowers and catering can all be arranged. From 2 – 200 guests – nothing is too much for Heather. She loves arranging weddings – why not let her arrange YOURS!
