Kitesurfing | BVI Holidays

Kiteboarding or kitesurfing is an extreme sport where the kiter uses the wind power with a large power kite to be pulled on a water, land or snow surface. It combines aspects of paragliding, surfing, windsurfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and wakeboarding. Here in the BVI we are very lucky to have Tommy Gaunt who is internationally famous in the world of kitesurfing who opened his kitesurfing school on Anegada in 2014.

Introduction

At Anegada Beach Club Tommy Gaunt offers a full service kitesurfing school where you can take lessons in kiting and stand up paddle boarding, buy or rent kite equipment, paddle boards, kayaks and snorkel gear. Tommy Gaunt is a world class kitesurfer and certified instructor of kitesurfing and paddle boarding, and offers all levels of lessons from beginner, where you are taught how to fly a kite on the beach to familiarise yourself with wind velocity, through to body dragging and getting airborne – even doing some leaps! Open November through June, kite lessons are subject to wind velocity.

For the more proficient kitesurfers, Tommy Gaunt offers various excursions on Anegada – here is one example which, as he says, is probably one of the most scenic in the world.

Windlass Downwinder - $80 per person

This downwinder is possibly one of the most scenic in the world, enjoy riding along Anegada’s untouched white sandy coast line, keep an eye out for stingrays, eagle rays, sea turtles & nurse sharks as this area is thriving with sea life. Includes transfer from Tommy Gaunt Kitesurfing to Windlass (ends at TGK).
