Accommodation

Long Bay Beach Resort offers a choice of villas and rooms on the beach and Hillside Studios with spectacular views.  All have comfortable king size beds. They offer free Wi-Fi, complimentary refreshments, air conditioning and ceiling fans. There is also a work space should your trip call for a mix of business and pleasure. Each room has its own private outdoor pergola with either balcony or terrace affording stunning views of the beach and neighbouring British Virgin Islands.

Activities

At Long Bay Beach Resort, bicycles, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and surfboards are provided complimentary for guests’ use, and between November and March, the surf is up so you can ride the waves to your heart’s content.

Long Bay Beach Resort offers complimentary drop-off and pick-up at Smuggler’s Cove which is another stunning beach and great for snorkelling.  Smuggler’s Cove is approximately 1 mile from Long Bay Beach Resort. If you like to dive, the concierge at Long Bay Beach Resort will be happy to arrange this for you.

Long Bay Beach Resort also offers complimentary Yoga classes at the beach, and tennis and pickleball too.  Complimentary tennis and pickleball lessons are offered to guests once a week, and mountain biking, hiking and fishing excursions can all be arranged. You would need to apply for a fishing license to fish anywhere in the BVI.

Small boat sailing and windsurfing can be found at Cane Garden Bay which is approximately 15 minutes’ drive from Long Bay Beach Resort.  If you would like to go on a day trip, Long Bay Beach Resort have their own boat and excursions are arranged for their guests.  Just ask at reception.  You can also catch the ferry from Road Town, capital of the British Virgin Islands, and spend the day on Virgin Gorda or Anegada.

Long Bay has a guest library where you can exchange books you have read for books you would like to read.

At the end of the day you can enjoy a relaxing beachside massage whilst listening to the waves lapping the sand.

Dining

Located inside an 18th-century sugar mill at one end of Long Bay beach is 1748 Restaurant. This unfussy yet sophisticated dining experience draws inspiration from Caribbean cuisine. Fresh and healthy meals sourced from Long Bay Beach Resort’s own herb and vegetable garden deliver the highest quality organic produce from island to table. A relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Long Bay Beach Resort’s culinary team, the 1748 Restaurant offers guests old world charm and a gentle air of elegance and romance.

If you can tear yourself away from 1748 Restaurant, there is a good choice of places to eat close to Long Bay Beach Resort. Tropical Fusion is right next door to Long Bay Beach Resort and offers a great choice of menus for lunch and dinner. Sebastian’s on the Beach and the Sugar Mill are within a 5 minute drive. A little bit further on is Carrot Bay where you can enjoy excellent local food at Da Coal Pot, or Bananakeet enjoys amazing views of the BVI and offers a swimming pool too.

Captain Mulligan’s bar at Nanny Cay (about 10 minutes’ drive from Long Bay Beach Resort) is the place to go to watch all the major sporting events. It’s a great atmosphere and you can grab a bite to eat and a cold beer too!

Road Town, which is the capital of the BVI has many wonderful restaurants and is only 20 minutes’ drive from Long Bay Beach Resort. Choose from A Taste of India, The Dove, Fantasia by Giorgio’s for great Italian food, Charlie’s at the Moorings where you can dine right next to the water’s edge and many other amazing places. If you just fancy something casual – Pusser’s at West End (less than 10 minutes’ drive from Long Bay Beach Resort) serves Pizza and Burgers.

You can dance the night away at Quito’s or Myetts over at Cane Garden Bay and both serve great food too. Cane Garden Bay is approximately 15 minutes’ drive from Long Bay Beach Resort.

Travelling to the BVI

Travelling from the UK to the British Virgin Islands

The most direct way is from Gatwick to Antigua with British Airways and onwards to Tortola with inter-Caribbean Airways, which is also a non-stop flight. Virgin Atlantic fly from Heathrow to Antigua and the onward flight is with inter-Caribbean Airways to Tortola. Alternatively, BVI Holidays can charter a private aircraft just for you and your party. You will be met when you disembark your transatlantic flight and fast-tracked through immigration and customs and taken to your waiting aircraft.

Travelling from Scotland

Flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow can also be arranged to connect with the Gatwick and Heathrow flights on certain days. Flights from regional airports can be arranged through Paris or Amsterdam to St Maarten and onwards to the BVI.

Travelling from New York, Boston or Miami

If you would like to have a few nights in New York, Boston or Miami before heading to BVI, this can also be arranged. The onward flight is via Puerto Rico which is a 35 minute hop over to the British Virgin Islands or again, a private charter can be arranged.

There are no direct flights to the BVI which is why the islands remain unspoilt, uncrowded and uncommercialised. From the summer of 2023, there will be a flight from Miami direct to Tortola.
